Heel Pain
Heel pain is one of the most common conditions that we see in our office. It traditionally does very well with conservative treatment. Conservative treatment includes cortisone injections, orthotic devices, anti-inflammatories and physical therapy. There are some patients that don’t like the idea of cortisone injections and want to take a more holistic approach. There are also patients who fail conservative treatments and need either surgical intervention or they could have had shockwave therapy which was more painful in the past and they could have just lived with the pain. There is a new treatment out there called EPAT extracorporeal pulse activation therapy that works through radio pressure waves. It focuses on your body healing its own tissue by increasing growth factors, increasing blood supply, and breaking up fibroidic tissue in a non-painful manner. It requires no anesthesia. It doesn’t require any needles. It gets you back on your feet very soon. It works very well on my patients especially when they want to get back to playing as soon as possible.
