All of us at Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center - Dr. Samantha Boyd, Dr. Hal Ornstein, Dr. Joseph Saka, and Dr. Katy Statler - entered the field of podiatry because we found it fascinating and varied work. Like the field of medicine in general, there are always new ways to keep feet and ankles healthy. We’re always keeping up with new podiatric technology for diagnosing, treating, and preventing problems on the outside -skin and nails - as well as the inside - joints, ligaments, circulation, nerves, bones, and everything else that’s jammed inside your lower limbs!

Here are some special technologies and methods that we use to treat our patients, all of which are available right here in our office in Howell, New Jersey:

  • Extracorporeal Pulse Activated Technology (EPAT):  This is a non-invasive method of treating chronic pain due to injury or overuse. We’ve had a lot of success with EPAT, especially in our patients who haven’t responded to other methods of treatment. EPAT uses short bursts of sound waves to literally reach in to an injured area and reduce inflammation, break up scar tissue, and promote the healing flow of blood.
  • Keryflex nail restoration fixes damaged nails in as little as 30 minutes. It’s great for nail discoloration, toenail fungus, brittle or ridged nails, or a chronic infection that you just can’t seem to shake with other treatments. The Keryflex method removes a problem nail and replaces it with a hard resin gel. The new, synthetic nail looks natural, can be polished, and withstands polish remover as well.
  • Kinesio taping is a method we use to speed up the healing process. It’s a specialized skill that requires certification, which our in-house physical therapist, Valerie Gregory, holds. You never have to leave our office to get this unique taping treatment.
  • Laser therapy is a very effective, safe way to eliminate toenail fungus. It’s quick, painless and there’s absolutely no recovery time or no side effects. It’s also FDA approved.
