Custom orthotics are some of the most versatile tools we can offer to our patients here at Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center. Orthotics can be a simple solution to a variety of foot issues, including plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, bunions, flat feet, and heel spurs. They’re helpful for those with arthritis, diabetes, and poor circulation. Not only do they treat countless problems, but they also treat people of all ages and genders. Men, women, and children who come to our Monmouth County podiatry office with foot pain can all benefit from orthotics.

“Custom” is the keyword

It’s important to distinguish between “shoe inserts” and “custom orthotics.” A typical shoe insert is one you’d pick up at the local drug store or pharmacy. Sure, these pre-made inserts are designed to treat particular biomechanical issues. But they may not do the trick for you for three reasons:

  1. Off-the-shelf inserts come in small, medium, and large, but they don’t necessarily conform to your foot.

  2. If you’re diagnosing your foot pain, you may be trying to fix the wrong problem. Wearing the wrong kind of insert may do you more harm than good.

  3. You may need other therapies in addition to the biomechanical correction that inserts provide.

There’s only one way to know for sure if orthotics and other therapies can help your foot pain: make an appointment with one of our board-certified podiatrists, Dr. Samantha Boyd, Dr. Hal Ornstein, Dr. Dan Phan, or Dr. Joseph Saka. If we think orthotics can help, we’ll take a cast of your foot and send the specifications out to a professional orthotics lab. The lab creates your custom inserts, sends them back to us, and we explain how to use them.

Custom orthotics fit you like a glove and fix your precise problem. Bringing your feet back to full, painless function is our goal, so call our Howell or Jackson, New Jersey office at (732) 905-1110, to see if orthotics are right for you. You may also contact us online for an appointment.
