Keryflex Can Restore the Beauty of Your Toenails

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But if we’re being honest, yellowed, crumbling toenails are generally not considered beautiful. Normal toenails are smooth and clear. They’re free of fungus, pitting, bending, and discoloration. If you long for toenails with a more normal appearance, you may be interested in restoring them with Keryflex.

Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center offers the Keryflex Nail Restoration System right here in our Monmouth County podiatry office. You may be a candidate for these hearty, artificial nails if you suffer from:

  • persistent fungal nail infections

  • nails that split or break easily

  • various forms of arthritis that can affect your toenails, such as gout, polyarthritis, or psoriatic arthritis

  • thickened, clawed, or horn-shaped nails

  • grooved, dented, or concave nails

How Keryflex works

Our board-certified podiatrists will create one or ten new nails for you using a composite resin material that simulates a natural nail. The resin is flexible, so we can shape it as needed to make it look as natural as possible. After your new nail dries into its final form, you are ready to get on with your day, apply nail polish, walk in the sun, and even continue any anti-fungal treatment you may be using.

How it’s different from acrylic nails

When you get acrylic nails at a salon, you’re subjecting yourself to harsh chemicals that can damage the nail bed and your natural nail. In addition, the acrylic material is hard and unyielding. Since they don’t follow the natural movement of your toes, acrylic nails may cause damage to the soft tissues below the nail. Keryflex nails are softer and more flexible than acrylic.

Keryflex isn’t for everyone. To see if you’re a candidate for toenail “remodeling,” schedule a consultation with us in Howell or Jackson, New Jersey. Call (732) 905-1110 for an appointment with Dr. Samantha Boyd, Dr. Hal Ornstein, Dr. Dan Phan, or Dr. Joseph Saka. You may also contact us online.
